Leon S. Marshall grew up in the heart of Washington DC under the strict parentage of his father, a retired military veteran of the USM officer elite. From an early age he was groomed by his father to follow in his footsteps and was home schooled the intricacies of tactics and diplomacy alongside his standard school work. Despite this Leon still managed to make plenty of time for social companionship, where he was able to hone his diplomatic skills on his fellow classmates and influence them without them realising as well as gaining valuable insights into the behavioural sciences.
As he got older his father started taking Leon along to military social occasions which allowed him to rub shoulders with the great USM leaders, whom his father often described as the crème of society. These encounters installed a fierce patriotism in Leon towards the USM and he quickly got noticed by USM recruiters. They offered Leon a full scholarship in the USM Staff College, which he immediately accepted. At college, his tutors quickly noted Leon’s interest in the field of tactics and recommended that he read Sun Tzu’s ‘The Art Of War’ and the more recent Stanislav Ponomaryov’s ‘Intricacies of Void Warfare’ from 2167. He even went so far as to learn Chinese and Russian so that he could pick up on the details of these texts lost in translation.
After four years of college, Leon graduated with distinction and was assigned to Goliath to help oversee the training of the personnel to be assigned to the USS Cressida and to assist where necessary. He quickly made himself known to the troops and officers alike for his efficient but ruthless measures. With direct control over a number of military assets, Leon hopes that he can prove his worth to his superiors on Crestus Prime in order to start climbing the ranks and obtain larger commands.
