I think you might have missed the point of my questions - but that was useful information anyway. What I actually wanted to know is whether Draegon knew of any one who could use spellcraft on our items so that we could tell what they are, not so that they could work out value. Value can be worked out later By the way, if we are taking a few days to catch our breath, then can I use Detect Magic on the items we picked up yesterday (the ones I couldn't work out what they were) to a) see which ones are magical, and b) use spellcraft to work out school of those that that. (I have +10). Let me know results?

Yes. Because I will be going home (!) shortly after that I had a proposition about play by post and IRC. I've seen it work before and I'm sure (if people were interested) it could work for us? In this case, I think it might well, if only because we know each other. Plus I don't fancy stopping completely over summer... With regard to Van: if the party is planning to take a few days for R&R, what are the rest of you going to do about me in that time? Left to my own devices, I don't like to think what might happen to the Cutter district's hapless vendors. Or my waistline D:

As a plus Glen we don't all have your nipples flashed at us.
In regards the next few days of R&R Murin is keeping separate after the incident with Cintora, and from now on will be wary of Cintora.

Draegon doesn't know any skilled spellcrafters in the cutters district.
So here is the item list
- nice rapier (abjuration) - diadem with black onyx gem (necromancy) - silk robe with spiderweb pattern (conjuration and transmutation)

I have been mulling over character concepts over the past few days - what would you say to a goblin or hobgoblin rogue? Preferably the latter, although it has LA+1.
If the answer's no, I will just go with human or elf.

Goblin is ok (seeing as there is a whole ghetto of them) but bear'n mind the persecution (oh noes). Hobgoblins are more likely to invade than migrate really (also the LA is high for what they have, but their abilities are too good for LA 0 ~ about on par with dwarf +2 dex equates to all those lovely random abilities regardless of -2 cha).
Why hobgoblin anyway?

Why hobgoblin anyway? Why statistically; because the stat boosts are nice (+2 con is always fun, and +2 dex is useful for my class), +4 move silently and darkvision are both also good, and unlike goblins they are medium size. While small is well and good (and good for rogues in particular), I just prefer being able to use full-sized weaponry and armour, along with not having size penalties on grapples. Why in terms of concept; because I'd quite like to play a goblin or similar non-human, but I don't like the sizeable (no pun intended) drawbacks of small size, -2 int and str. I forgot that hobgoblins were more than just bigger tougher goblins.

Goblins also have +4 on move silently, and ride (Just so you know).
Also, goblins have no int penalty (as kobolds alaso do not) they are not stupid! -2 cha -2 str +2 dex!
Note also: Small size: +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
Fair trade for a dice down (especially when incorporating sneaks). Also your gear is generally cheaper! Being small is rather good (for rogues and casters).

Might be a bit late to ask, but is there any other day than the 4th we can run the next game on?
There's a friend's birthday/Robot House booze up on all Friday (only found out recently), and I know where my priorities are, since I haven't really seen any of these guys all year.
Sorry to spring this, but I haven't got smashed with my robotics friends all year. This is kind of important to me, odd as that might sound.

My exams are over and done with, so I'm free any day whatsoever. @antony Okay, I got the goblin / hobgoblin stats slightly confused. And by that, I mean completely wrong. May as well go with goblin then. I might have a character for your persusal tomorrow.
