Saturday can go on until 4pm; Friday is an option but not preferable.
Mechanically this is normal D&D. I (for the first time ever) am not screwing around with it at all and it is just the core books with a set of concise suplements and no others.
Before any real details go here I have three major rules:
1) DM books contain the knowledge of gods and unreasonable access will lead to retribution. 2) Unreasonable behaviour and a lack of respect for the game, fellow players and myself have the obvious outcome. 3) Cheating, of any kind, results in severe retribution; suspicion will lead to me monitoring the dice and I can tell the difference between luck and lies. If you know that you cheat I highly recommend you do not play because you will be out as quickly as it takes for me to notice.
I note these to try to avoid problems with the game once it has started.
So, this is a planned and closed campaign which will see the players exploring a traditional dungeons and dragons setting filled with all of the things you would normally expect and somethings that you wouldn't as is my creative flare.
The campaign will start players at level 1 and (for the first few sessions) will not follow standard experience gain until the players are level 4. These first four levels form the setup for the campaign and after that normal levelling will happen. The campaign will conclude at level 8 or (depending on the players progress and attitude throughout the campaign) level 12.
Further details about books and their openness will appear later along with ingame campaign details.
Limited places, some already taken.

Oh also, my games tend to be hard as nails at times so be warned of character deaths.

So yeah, here is the deal. This was originally supposed to be a playtest of a currently developing ruleset but I have chosen to instead have a little bit of fun and run the test campaign as a general D&D campaign instead.
The campaign setting is heavily concerned with dragons (at least in the part of the world where it is set) the ruling pantheon is an array of dragon gods and those will be the only ones available to clerics.
The heroes adventure will begin with their entrance into border guard training a hard and arduace journey of growth developement and learning for the sole goal of protecting the countries borders from invasion. The fort in question is one of the harshest and most difficult to reach forts in the land; masked in a freezing fog it is desolate and unforgiving. The fort borders barbarian lands which are home to etins, huge wolves, trolls and giants who live in the mountains beyond the frozen marshes.
A rough place indeed.
Sorry for the third degree immediately in the first post, I don't tolerate any of those things. And just to clarify the first rule does bear in mind other GM's, the second rule is to make it clear from the outset that I'm doing this for fun and I have no qualms about dealing with people who are rude or mean and finally, with the third rule, I am aware that some specific people have a cheating problem in this soc and I want to make my position clear.

The game is most certainly definitely on saturday.
David, The game will start this saturday and will be aimed with heavy roleplaying and many rule exceptions for the sake of story.
It will run from morning to 4pm most weekends but this weekend there is no time limit upwards because sarah doesn't start work until next week.
In regards to gameplay this is a heavy RP campaign and uses a few home rules ie, the planar is not the same and there are no PHB deities which can cause confusion. The book list uptop lets you know what books contain GM material which I would rather not be read.
The players are Alex and Sarah who are playing a cleric (of Tamara, draconic god of healing and the sun) and a Orc Barbarian/ and future warlock.
The campaign is contained with a finite end point / level cap.
Because we are starting on saturday if you want to play reply here with what you are thinking of playing (if you are interested) and I'll let you know if the class is in (simple guide, avoid duplication, asian classes, warmage and you should be ok). I'm fine with a character starting without a history so that can be developed later, and you can gen on the morning of saturday so I can brief on setting content and the general playing field.
Hope that wasn't too vague and I will try to get back to your replies asap.
And it definitely is on saturdays; just to reiterate that point.

Hey Ant, Sorry for late notice, been busy what with birthdayness yesterday. Assuming you, Alex and Sarah are ok with it, I'd be up for joining Since you're playing mostly core and to be honest, I don't know much of whats in the other books anyway, I'd take a core book class. I'm thinking either Ranger or Rogue, both in terms of what would be useful for the party, classes I've never played before and what would be fun to roleplay. I'm leaning towards Rogue personally, but will decide for sure at genning. Heavy RP would be a nice change. While I have always wanted to play a DnD campaign to a high level, playing a character just for RP and not worrying about levelling paths, feat balancing and so forth would be great too. Where is it being played and what time should I head over?

At my house but if you don't know where that is just show up at alex's and sarah's for about 10, and they'll nip over. I'll explain abit about the setting and how the first four levels are going to work.
Either class is fine , I'll provide a high quality and pretty character sheet and explain how starts are working tomorrow.

Dave, I can't remember - did I lend you any of my DnD books over the summer? Possibly Complete Divine, Warrior and Player's Handbook II? Only I can't find them anywhere and both Sarah and Antony are certain they haven't borrowed them.

The ones you've listed, no......but I have Monster Manual III, been meaning to return that for an age now. Will bring it tomorrow.
I also have my copies of Monster Manual I and II - I can bring them if you'd like Ant?
I *do* remember you offering to lend me those books and we used them, but if I recall correctly someone brought them to Adeles house while we char-genned but I didn't take them away. No idea who brought them or took them =/
oh! Ant, do you still have my Dark Heresy book or did you return that?

Fair enough - I will chase Adele about it.
Sarah apparently has your DH book - remind her / me tomorrow morning and she can probably fish it out before we go to Antony's.
