Dr. Horace Morgan was a citizen of the ICC. He always told people, it did not matter where he came from, who his parents were, where he studied or what his political views are. All that mattered is that he was a doctor. And a damn good one. He new he was a synthetic. He did not always like it, and neither did everyone who found out. So he kept it to himself as much as he could. He looked about as old as someone just past their physical prime, but not too young you wouldn't trust them to look after you should you get injured. Experienced, wise, yet young and fit. His hair was jet black and he sported an eccentric looking moustache. He thought it would make him fit in and look more human. He spoke properly and politely. He did everything to the book. Although he had no choice to follow orders. he gave the appearance of having a choice. He was a team player.
Then he went to war.
The first few years of his life he was just a general medic for returning wounded soldiers. Getting used to the world and how it operated. The boffins high up liked his soft and amiable approach, and so decided to send him on a mission. He was to join the USM in an attack on a mining planetoid under Alexandria influence. The experience changed him. He did not feel fear, or pain, or horror. But he knew what it was. He knew that what he went through would make a man feel those things. In human soldiers, the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is used to define what happened to Dr. Morgan. It is rarely seen in synthetics but he showed the same symptoms. He grew distant, more unemotional than a synthetic normally is. During his Charge cycles at night, subconsciously played back clips of the events that occurred on the mission. He would twitch and get depressed. It was strange behaviour for a synthetic. And yet, with, it made the jarheads and soldiers around him trust him more. They knew he was a synth, and yet he showed the behaviour of a veteran. To them, he seemed more human than any of the other doctors. They would call for him to fix them up. He was one of the troopers in their eyes.
By the end of that tour of duty, the Doc had earned a few nicknames. Some called him Horace 'The Human', some Morgan 'More-organs' but most of the troopers would just call for 'Our Doc'. It was this trust of him that the big wigs further up in the USSMMC decided to send him on a new mission. A mission of great importance. Although he was happy to not be sitting around dealing with whining injured recruits back on the ground, he was hesitant. He worried incase memories of his last tour came up. He knew he would have to earn the trust of new soldiers, and from what he'd been told, soft civilians too. He was not looking forward to it. The meatbags were weak, but it was his duty to keep them alive.
