The UWE Roleplaying Society is proud to present:
If people don't know exactly what a league is, a league is where everyone plays everyone else in a round robin, scoring points for wins.
The matches will be the standard best of 3 format. Decks are made up of 60 cards, with a sideboard of 15 cards. After each round, you can put cards from your sideboard into your deck and put cards from your deck into your sideboard.
Everyone will be assigned another person to play against that week. If you can't play a match in a particular week, tell us and your opponent if possible, so we can rearrange the match for another time. If you can't/don't play a match in a particular week without telling us and/or your opponent, it will be marked down as a 2-0 loss for you and a 2-0 win for your opponent.
Before the match starts, check your opponents deck against the decklist on this thread. The decklists will be posted after the deck submission deadline.
We will ask both players to confirm the result of the match. If there is some disagreement, we'll try to find out what actually happened. If we can't, we'll organise a rematch.
The scoring system will be as follows:
Deck Rules
In order to make the leage fair and not budget destroying, there are some restrictions on decks:
You will have until midday on January 11th to submit a deck.
Either pm it to me, or email it to me (owen6.davies@live.uwe.ac.uk), so we can check the costs of the card and the deck. The reason for secrecy until the deadline is to avoid people building decks to counter other people's. I've already made my deck, and I won't be changing it. All the decklists will be posted after the deadline on January 4th.
It will cost money to enter I'm afraid:
The fees will be put towards prizes and a draft tournament at the end of the league season.
The first round of the league will be in the new year, and your first opponents will be posted over Christmas, so keep watching this thread.
P.S. I am happy to help anyone who is new and/or is struggling to build a deck. It would be nice if some of the more experienced players could help out too.
THE UWE Magic: The Gathering League

The scoring system will be as follows:
- 3 Points for a 2-0 victory.
- 2 Points for a 2-1 victory.
- 1 Point for a 2-1 loss.
- 0 Points for a 2-0 loss.
Deck Rules
In order to make the leage fair and not budget destroying, there are some restrictions on decks:
- Your deck cannot cost more than £20, including sideboard. We're going to use the website cardkingdom.com to determine the costs of cards and decks. The website is American and uses dollars, so a deck that costs $32 will be the same as a deck that costs £20. The cost of Basic Land cards also count towards the total cost.
- Your deck cannot have more than 6 rare cards in it. If you're new to MTG, the rare cards are the ones with either the gold or orange expansion symbol.
You will have until midday on January 11th to submit a deck.
Do NOT post your decklist on this thread.
Either pm it to me, or email it to me (owen6.davies@live.uwe.ac.uk), so we can check the costs of the card and the deck. It will cost money to enter I'm afraid:
- £3 if you are a paid member of the Roleplaying society.
- £5 if you aren't a paid member of the Roleplaying society.
The fees will be put towards prizes and a draft tournament at the end of the league season.
