You walk through the door into a massive hall. It seems that the entire room is made out of white marble, from the floors, covered in red carpet, to the columns that stretch impossibly high to the ceiling that you can only just see. There is a vast landscape painting on both the wall to your left and to your right. On the left wall, the subject appears to be an arena of some sort. On the right, the painting is mostly black, with a small splodge of white in the middle. At the far end of the room, there is a massive door, built out of solid gold. There are a couple of corridors leading out of the hall.
A woman is standing in the middle of the hall. She is about 6 feet tall, with long white hair, and gold eyes. You can't tell how old she might be, but you can guess that she is not of any mortal race. She doesn't open her mouth, but her voice resonates around your head.
'WELCOME TO THE TEST OF THE STARSTONE KALEB GREENDALE. IN EACH OF THE TEN ROOMS, THERE IS A KEY. ONCE YOU HAVE COLLECTED ALL TEN KEYS, YOU CAN USE THEM TO OPEN THE GOLD DOOR AT THE END OF THIS HALL, AND REACH THE STARSTONE. TO ENTER ONE OF THE ROOMS, SIMPLY TOUCH ONE OF THE PAINTINGS. IF YOU REQUIRE ANY MORE INFORMATION, ASK NOW.'
GM: Ask any questions you have about the Test in your next post. You won't get another opportunity.

OT: Just realised that modifying the thread wouldn't show up as there being something new on the thread.

His confidence suddenly plummeted as he realised the one thing he had not taken into account while preparing his vast collection of arms and equipment.
Punctuated by gutteral emnations of noise from hisself, he asked, face red with embarressment and eyes turned down: "Uh, yes.. Um.. Will there be food?"

The woman replies,
'THERE IS A KITCHEN IN THE CATHEDRAL, YOU ARE WELCOME TO TAKE ANY FOOD YOU NEED FROM THERE. GO DOWN THE CORRIDOR TO YOUR LEFT, THEN IT'S THE SECOND DOOR ON YOUR RIGHT. DO YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS?'

Kaleb seems overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, "Th-thank you very much, miss!", and almost heads straight on for the kitchen.
However he stops at the last moment before passing her, brow creased in deep thought. "You said there was ten tests, right? But.. How come there's only two paintings?"
He seems to have forgotten his hunger, at least momentarily, in the face of this apparent and curious paradox.

'THE REST OF THE PAINTINGS ARE SCATTERED AROUND THE CATHEDRAL. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU WILL FIND ONE IN THE KITCHEN.'

His eyes bulge with joy - "Th-thank you miss! I-I'll do my best, I swear I will!".
Before she could respond, however, he had already shot past and down the corridor to the left, headed for the kitchen as fast as his stubby little legs would take him.

The white marble is still prevalent, although the ceiling is much lower and there aren't any columns. On the left wall of the corridor there is a painting of the sky. When you enter the kitchen, you see that a banquet fit for royalty has been laid on the table. The main piece appears to be a spit roast cow. The kitchen itself seems more like a dining room, as you can't see any ovens or sinks, or even cupboards. At the far end of the kitchen there is a painting of a castle.

Kaleb quickly darts aroound the table, filling his pack to bursting point with food from the platters. He can't quite seem to fit the cow, but manages to get a good share of grub nonetheless. Licking the accumulated grease and stickiness from his podgy fingers, he eyes the painting of the castle. By the time he's cleared all 10 digits, he sighs deeply, realising he may have to work before eating. Sorrowfully closing the flap over the now bulging heap of food in his sack, he turns and pokes inquisitively at the castle painting.
