Markus raised an eyebrow as the wall received its unjust punishment. So he still had feelings. The chill of unlife had not entirely gripped his soul yet. "I should be able to put a stop to the river by blocking it up river by a Wall of Stone spell. The river would instead create a small lake nearby. It should put a final stop to the sewers if we also blow up the entrance to the system. Even if they figure out what happened to the river they still couldn't get it to enter the sewers if they can't clear up the mess a sizable explosion would cause. Especially if bringing down the stopper would create flash flood. Maybe even sink the city for several days. I'm not sure if there is a moat. But if there is I could create a bridge across it with a similar spell during the battle."
Markus figured. "The hard part is to bring the gates down before the attack and stop the Gazrans from fixing it. Ideally both the inner and outer gates should be put out of function. I have no idea of how to weaken the walls. I hope you will not be gone for long. We might need you. Gilliad might need you for this to succeed."

"I'm sure all of those would work... Gate have hinges, I have acid. Easy. I do not know how long I will be gone, it depends on when Syver finds me... I have some unfinished business to attend to" Kavor stepped away from the wall, his strength was still surprising him. He reached round to his back and drew the Scythe the Pallid Princess had given him. He admired they elegance of the weapon, and he felt more alert while holding it. " I shall try and return within a couple of weeks. Do not die while I am gone Markus, I shall be very angry if you do." Kavor returned to his statue like stance, behind Markus, holding the Scythe in one hand, Shield in the other.

When once again making incantatations to ensure that the feather would still work properly after battling for Markus' attention he came to think of the irony in Kavor's statement. He might be a thin, short (compared to Kavor) and smoothly shaped man. More suitable for a fine dining table than a battleground, and were it not for his gray hair, which was characteristic for a northerner he might have easily blended in here with the Gazran nobility. In contrast with Kavor, however, he had not yet had a close encounter with death, and certainly not ended up on the losing side. Strictly speaking, Kavor separating from him was far more dangerous for the knight than it was for himself. But of course, Kavor was a changed man now, and religious to boot. Clearly his conversion must have convinced him that he was far more than a simple mortal like himself.
Undead are... resilient and Graveknights in particular. He knew from own experience, having applied bones of the dead across his body. But they could still be destroyed. Sometimes, going in with sword drawn and spells blazing, was more deadly for yourself than any of your enemies. Contrary to what one would believe about a man who had lost his heart (in the literal sense) Kavor had not yet learned this. Provided he could stay alive, er, undead, Kavor would probably come to know this eventually. Especially if he spent time around Markus.
Perhaps this was Urgathoa's plan? Kavor might be the key piece in her game. She just needed someone he knew and trusted to teach him how the world works. Markus still remembered what a sheltered childhood Kavor had had, at least in comparison to himself. And if she had held them under watch she would know that Markus had already before Kavor's change started to alter his values and ideals. At least this way Markus could make sense of it all. It still wasn't perfect but it was close enough for him to leave the issue alone for now. It would probably come clear as they progressed, he just hoped that would be before it was too late.

Well this was... complicated. So he had went to prison to free the half-orc under the promise that he would join their cause. He had agreed and with some sleight and spell, and of course, a lot of saying the right things at the right times he had managed to break him out. He didn't think that he, along with all the other bottom level prisoners would be killed by the torturers, ending in a blood-bath where Markus was the sole survivor.
Things had been further complicated by finding the ranger chained up in the same prison. The good news was that with plenty of dead people around he had a lot to work with. He could still break the orc out. The fact that he lacked flesh was a minor concern. So a lot of burning, screaming, unlocking and acid throwing later he had freed the ranger and got the skeletons up to the surface. The skeletons were... temporarily incapacitated by the soldiers and the soldiers were premanently dispatched by Markus. Unfortunately he had failed to break both the orc and the ranger out as High Priest joined the fight and made him fall to the floor, so close to the exit.
Now it went against everything he believed in to try again while the place was under lock-down. It was too risky and too costly. BUT: It frustrated him beyond belief to have achieved absolutely nothing beyond a few dead guards, and a few freed prisoners. How was he ever going to gain the respect he deserved when he can't finish what he started?
With a deep sigh he picked up his notebook. Well, let's come up with a plan shall we?

An abridged account of whats happend so far- The PCs received their orders from the General Vayln and headed out of Gilliad into the enemy territory Gazra. They made their way to Eltar to aquire their food surplus to aid the up coming war. They were dragged into Fort Something (forgotten the name, i will find the old map or make a new one eventually) by the knights of bray after witnessing their dragon slaying. They continued on and left the fungus infected village alone. When at Eltar they failed to secure carts and failed to secure a boat at New Port just to the east. They split up at this point and things got complicated to say the least but eventually ended up together again at the broken teleport stone in the Feral Forest. They fought the mutants and returned themselves to nromal size and got back to there home capital in Gilliad. For unknown reasons the equitorial anti-magic field broke down. They then embarked on their next mission to weaken Fort Constance in Gazra. They arrived at resistance headquarters in Fort Constance via teleportation stone and began their reign of chaos. Resistance HQ was discovered and taken by the enemy. Important things some characters know- The druids and the death knight know that their is a dangerous threat contained to the east, the fungal forest. They also know about the fey threat from the Feral Forest and the Wendigo problems in the Highlands to the west. The sorcerer knows of a valuable item at Candle Spire, but not the significance of it. The death kinght met the dragon riders who did not reveal who they are or what they take tribute for.

Markus secured carts. The militia attacked before we could use them though.

Markus sat cross-legged on the floor with the book in his lap. He was motionless and it was closed. In fact, even his skeletal servants that were stood around him, tirelessly guarding him seemed restless compared to himself. He was looking at the cover. The text clearly identified it as "The Book of Vile Darkness". His fingers skittered across the surface as if to remove a layer of dust which was not there. He had longed to get his hands on this book, and yet, now that he had it, he could not bring himself to open it.
It had been too easy. He still did not know who had won the battle between the underground organization and the paladin but no one had come looking for him thus far so if he let himself speculate it was likely that the paladin had been victorious. Yet, why would a cult which it only took a single person to bring down have an object of such power? It made no sense to him. None of them could have been very powerful Wizards or Sorcerers, so indeed how had they gotten their hands on it?
He did not really think it booby-trapped to explode in his face when opened but it was magic, which was a difference from The Necromantica or at least until he had uncovered its hidden potential. The paladin had been able to sense it just from Markus touching it. He did not know if he could hide this magical aura, which was unsettling, especially if he would run into him again. So what was this magic?
"I suppose there is only one way to find out. It seems sometimes even I have to take a risk" He said to himself as the world seemed to unfreeze around him. He took a deep breath...

A crypt. Plenty of bodies. All of old Gazran royalty. In the centre of the capital city beneath the keep. In the midst of a place filled with sorcerers all out to kill him. The setting was perfect. He was sure: If the Cleric who had cast the consecration spell surrounding him had known this would happen even he would have regret the irony that would never come to pass.
With seven days until he could show his face in the city he was restless and bored. Until now the city had been a place of joy. Things to blow up everywhere, citizens to infect, bodies to raise and guard captains to blow up. The king had even gone through the trouble to be resurrected so Markus could have another go at killing him. The newcomers from the mages city were not as friendly, however. They had caught him before and if it weren't for his ingenious idea to hide in the middle of them they could probably do it again. So what does one do when bored?
Blow up a gate? Check. Kill all members of the wayfarer's guild? Check. Loot the grave of some old geezer who looked important? Check. Put all 60 bodies in one big pile in the middle of the crypt just to see what it looked like? Check. Stare in awe at Kavor as he teleported into the crypt wearing an astronaut suit and carrying an old naked man with a beard that almost reached the floor and nails almost a foot long that wished to be buried alive in the royal crypt? Jeez. Check.
While he was happy now that he had something to counter the consecration with, given that the Graveknight had the exact opposite effect to the area surrounding him. He could not help to think that there had to be some kind of huge beast chasing him that he needed help killing for him to be so desperate that he'd come back to Markus. Given the knight's favourite preoccupation (killing large beasts) it did not seem like much of a stretch.
"Kavor? Would you help me raise these bodies? They would be most useful during the invasion. I personally believe fire spells to be some of the strongest evocation spells around, if these mages had to fight something immune to fire, they'd be seriously disadvantaged. I also heard they would be setting up some kind of tent. If we're lucky it might be flammable and will trap them in the fire."
EDIT: Corrected indecent remark to what Markus would do to guard-captains.

"Right. So, that had been an eventful week or two" Kavor thought. "Slaughter some innocents and spread their dead bodies around the Manor houses. Find a spaceship. Destroy and loot the spaceship. Become rather good at a racing arcade game inside the space ship. Destroy a clan of Trolls, children and all. Dump Troll bodies in the river to infect it. Get carried off by a colossal dragon, dumped by 3 more and have to pay them 50 diamonds as tribute. Climb down a sheer mountain, nearly kill a Frost Worm but it escaped. Get killed by a 10 Headed Fire Hydra. Get shouted at by Urgathoa. Kill a Viper Vine after it killed Syver. Teleport (at great damage to myself) back to the Troll hideout. Rest up for a day. Get into the city (thanks to an exploding gate and cowardly guards). Get into the thieves guild. Command my first undead. Find a Steward. Find Markus. Yes, definitely Eventful."
"Ah, Markus. Yes, I can help you with that. That does sound like a very good plan. I'm sure it will all be excellent and we will slay many people. I've had a very interesting couple of weeks and think it would be good to catch up with what we've both done and found. I'm sure you will find some of it intriguing.
But first... We should talk... hehe...
I can guess how I think you'll respond to this, however, I still have to mention it. So, I'll just be blunt. Urgathoa has decided to make you her Herald. You are to proclaim her might and power and find others to worship and honour her. I am to protect you on this quest. For both our sakes, please accept this great honour."
If Kavor could have a sweaty brow, he would wipe it right now. If he could let out a sigh of relief, he would be. If he feel butterflies in his stomach, they would be fluttering away. He could not see this going well...
"So, what do you say? Yes?"
At least he was back with Markus, that was one less thing The Pallid Princess could be mad at him about...

"Lady Urgathoa has many things in common with me. While I have no belief in her divinity she and I are both very much interested in symbolism." Markus smiled. "Why is it that every time you get an idea you seem oblivious to what a genius you are, Kavor? This... hideout" He seemed hesitant to give this unluxurious place this description "Is a result of a mixture of things A) The superstitious priests thinking the city is under attack by a necromancer. While they are correct, this is not much more than a shot in the dark. B) The King thinking the town is about to be attacked by a foreign invading force, while he is also correct this is a guess made by the nature of the sabotage missions I've carried out. C) These mages thinking arriving in force will drive me out and get me killed. They are the most foolish of all as they are wrong about their assumptions. Finally D) A superstitious cult believing an arcane book to be full of religious mystery."
Markus took a break to catch his breath and see if Kavor had anything to add. Remembering that lack of a face is a serious downside to being a piece of armour Markus gave inspecting his listener up and started anew. "I made many miscalculations and errors in my judgement of how I should organize this attack. One of the first things one should think of when committing a crime is who to blame if it goes awry. If you ask me to become the herald of Urgathoa, then so be it. All terrorist attacks on this city shall retroactively and in the future be dedicated to your mistress. I will do my best to make the buildings hit marked with her symbol. But with this you will have to help me. By the end of this week the sites shall have her brand on them, burnt in by acid. I will make every effort I can think of to make sure that the city will believe that it is under attack by no other than a cult of Urgathoa"
Markus smiled again thinking: "All wars are indeed based on deception". "Now, I will need to study your holy symbol, Kavor, I also need to know what type of services your God can offer us in our endeavour. Anything she can do will hopefully empower my own ability to spread chaos and death. I did say we have many things in common. That gate just exploding? That was me. The fountains also exploded, and two of the watchtowers, along with the wall. I had the clerics equipment stolen and destroyed a cult. (I believe they followed a God opposed to yours, however). I assassinated a Wizard sent to assassinate me and I made quite a fortune at the black market. Now, What exciting things have you been up to?"

Found on Pathfinder wiki: HeraldA herald is the incarnate embodiment of a deity's will. These unique creatures are often used as messengers or to assist the followers of a god. Their appearance on Golarion is rare in the extreme, and they only ever do so with the express permission of their divine patron. Certain devout worshipers of a god may summon them using powerful spells (such as greater planar ally), but even then they only appear by divine consent and only to those who are held in the highest favor or whose need is truly great.

I have a question for Matt regarding the Robes of Arcane Heritage. Markus will finish them (hopefully) before the invasion starts. In the rules it says it will depict either a sorcerer bloodline or a family tree. Markus is obviously not the one to display his family tree so he will choose the bloodline option. So what will it actually look like, remembering he is Undead Bloodline and he's not making it a robe (yuck, robes...)?
