After sleeping in the mouth of the cave the adventurers wake up to a hailstorm and decide to wait until it has passed before they leave and return to the town of Solstrid.
While on their merry way they realize that something is wrong. There are dead animals on the road and when they see Solstrid they do because it is on fire.
As they arrive the town is under attack by undead monsters. The paladins are doing their best to fight them off but there are just too many of them and more are arriving as a dark wind is flying through the town possessing dead bodies.
The paladins beg the party to help evacuate the defenseless in the shrine to a safe place. Naturally, with a little encouragement from Hel, Sheldon and The inquisitor sets fire to the shrine burning the women and children alive.
The heroes do their best to fight off the waves of undead but when another sixty approaches and is aided by a mass enlarge person spell from the spirit they run away and decide the town is lost.
Returning to Mellby, where they are less than liked they restock on supplies and head on their way south to avoid the infested town and still reach their target.
After travelling for a while they run into a fissure in the ground. After investigating they find that there is a deposit of fire underground. They cannot take the wagon across the fissure so they decide to walk along it until they find a place where it is thin enough to be able to pass. As they walk they see a circular shaped wooden structure built on the fissure. The structure is covered with magical runes and has a purpose which none of the adventurers manage to find out.
They also find a strange obelisk of some kind. As te inquisitor approaches it, he is contacted by a "Gagneldi" a being of fire and magic who asks the inquisitor to topple the obelisk and shows him a mental image of a group of spellcasters trapping him with the obelisk. Grok and the inquisitor attempts to free the gagneldi but without the help of the rest of the party they fail to topple the obelisk.
With the task uncompleted they leave to a nearby village. They find out that the village is inhabited by a council of spellcasters known as "The council of ten". After conversing with a wizard of a somewhat unapproachable attitude they hand their weapons in to be enhanced in return for killing the Gagneldi that slaid their apprentices. Currently the Party is getting food and lodgings as they prepare for the coming battle.

After the best sleep the group had had in a very long while, the jolly adventurers set out to fight the creature the Wizards saw as vermin. They picked up the weapons that had been enchanted by the Wizard Hawklight with the somewhat unsociable attitude and then went toward the obelisk.
Things did not turn out as they thought as the Gagneldi told them that they had been deceived by the wizards who wished to harness the power of the rift for themselves and that they had attacked him when he had sought to feed off the magical energy from the rift just so that he could sustain himself.
Grok and Cheech took matters into their own hands and started to drag the obelisk to a place where they could dump it in the rift and destroy it to set the gagneldi free. Brynhildr and Sheldon on the other hand decided to go back to the village and ask the wizards if there was another way.
The wizards claimed that the Gagneldi was unintelligent and would not consider any attempts to diplomatic connections. It only wanted to feed and they were the primary source of food. Brynhildr and Sheldon now refused to carry out the mission and Sheldon turned his arrows back. Brunhildr however, being a spear Maiden could not give anyone else her weapon and sought another way to resolve the conflict.
Using magical means Grok was still pulling the obelisk, estimating it would take him eight hours to get to a spot in the rift where it was large enough for him to dump it. Brynhildr easily caught up and started communicating with the Gagneldi. She asked it whether it was not satisfied with killing the apprentices and if it would not agree to a stop in the hostilites in return for being released and free to feed off the rift. After some consideration the Gagneldi agreed. Brynhildr then tried to speak to the wizards. They decided to bring the issue to their leader. A no was expected but the leader seemed to be a man who liked unorthodox methods and agreed in return for the gagneldi's promise to guard the rift against any unwanted trespassers.
Arriving at the obelisk which was still being dragged by Grok the deal was sealed with magic and the wizards asked the rest of the party to apprehend Grok and stop him from pulling the obelisk. In frustration Grok struck the magical obelisk resulting in him putting himself to sleep and cracking his axe. The wizards proceeded to erase the magical runed from the obelisk and it crumbled to dust.
Enraged, Surtr stripped Grok of his powers. Glad that balance had been upheld Thrud rewarded Brynhildr. While she was trancing the godess came to her and gave her a spear to combat chaos and imbalance in the world.

nosey DM tips
Yeh that ring of invisibilty is a use activated item like the hat of disguise, you activate it as often as you like for as long as you like (used the item creation rules on page 550 core rule book to work out why its worth 20k), i'm not sure whether your ok with us having an item like that or whether you'd like it to be uses per day, in which case it would be worth 9k X (uses per day/5). note that having it worth 20k means we are now on track with the treasure for pcs of our lvl (asuming half ore less than whats in the book and our metal armours worth several times standard value) just that its all in the hands of one person.

After a peaceful journey along the rift the party headed into the forest again. Full of peril as the depths of nordic forests are they soon ran into trouble. Party members were soon filled with a rage. Bob and Brynhildr failed to resist it and mindlessly began to attack their friends. As they spilled blood on the ground what seemed to be a dead tree started to move towards them slowly. Trying to fend off his friends Brynhildr finally snapped out of her state and Grok hurried to intercept the tree. Seemingly immune to its effect (maybe because it is his natural state or maybe because Surtr still has hope for hm as an agent of destruction) Grok managed to reduce the tree to splinters for the party to use to fuel their fire with the help of Cheech.
As the party travelled onward it got colder. Brynhildr and the inquisitor partly succumbed to the cold but Cheech's magic and extra clothing helped them to be more comfortable. Soon they reached the treeline where the altitude was too high and the climate too cold for trees to live. They had encountered highland.
Even in environments this cold humans show remarkable resilience. The group found a village close to the mountainside. As they approached they found a large block of ice close to a magical runepillar. The adventurers curiosity led them to investigate. The block of ice started to melt as they closed in and they soon saw how they began to take the form of two ice golems. The inquisitor hurried to the pillar which seemed to lack two runes and tried to fill it in to avert being attacked. Unfortunately he entered the runes Death and cold which caused the party to be sprayed with a cone of cold before they were attacked.
After a hasty battle they decided to walk into the village. They were not welcomed as the villagers appeared to be dead. Long slashing wounds had been taking them out and as they investigated someone tried to cast carm person on Cheech who easily resisted such trickery. Following footprints in the snow they realised that there was an invisible entity walking among them. Bob threw himself over the thing who turned out to be some sort of caster. The man revealed that they had been attacked by skags led by a creature he could not identify but apparently could take human form. He himself had escaped from it by turning invisible. Previously he had been a prisoner forced to work on enchantning weapons and armor for it. He also told them that the blacksmith was still trapped in the mine with the task of forging equipment. He offered them a deal to break the blacksmith free but urged them to hurry lest the skags would come back from their raiding trip.
Sheldon stayed outside to guard the man if he should try to escape but the rest of the part set out into the mines to find and kill the creature leading the Skags.
It did not take long as the mines were newly carved out and without much dept. They located the blacksmith who told them to get out as fast as they coul, when they did not comply a mist started to form around them and suddenly they were struck by a familiar feeling as they were once again showered with ice. The tunnel was covered in ice which caused the adventurers to fall over from the slipperiness. Bob quicly got on his feet and ran across the ice with impressive balance only to be greeted by a drake who took a bite of him, causing him to fall unconscious.
Slowly but cautiously the party started to move across the ice, except for cheech to stayed prone and preferred to heal the party with his channel energy ability from afar. Once again faced with a most formidable foe Grok proceeded to try and slice it up with his axe but it was brynhildr that finally impaled it on her spear.
In true Viking manner Brynhildr declared the spoils of the combat hers including the blacksmith who was now to be taken as her slave but before the party could get out of the combat the trolls returned and started to attack the once who killed their master.
Outside Sheldon and the wizard had managed to disguise their wagon and hid in it. The trolls did not find them and when the others hurriedly came back to the wagon they were still safe. The wizard, horrified that his friend had been taken as a slave offered the party to be teleported to their destination. The adventurers gladly accepted.

After less than safe methods had been applied the magician managed to teleport everyone to the neutral zone outside Fenrisvik. After a short trek the adventurers made it through the gates where much was to discover.
Order seemed to be held by the combined force of a group called the ravens and templar involvement. The market seemed to offer anything they were after (except for plate armor). The cathedral loomed over the band like a bad omen on a clear day. Succeeding in not getting themselves murdered on their first day they made it safely to the Gothia estate where they were warmly greeted by Odvard de Gothia. Apparently the last heir of the Gothia family. Odvard revealed that Oden had made him his chosen one to represent him on earth and claimed that he would kill the Svea king and take the raven throne.
Odvard said that they had a key part to play that Oden had revealed to him. He said that he could not clam to be an heir of the Gothia without the signet ring that was left in the castle in the neutral zone. Odvard had not went there himself as the threat of a trap was too great for someone of his blood.
He assumed that it may be safe for the adventurers to help him in this task. After Grok had concluded that he could not get his breastplate armor refitted by the local smith he went to search for the smith he had previously met. Knowing that the search would take at least four days or more depending on if the smith was willing to meet the man that caused him to fall unconscious he sat out to find him.
The rest of the group were not as happy with this decision and utilizing Odvards ability to rally his slaves he was magically forced to return to them. This concerned Grok little as he immediately set out to search again. Meeting a huge templar of unknown name or origin Grok finally came to the knowledge that only one smith in the city could refit his armour but he was not available. Grok finally decided to buy an enchanted banded mail and (as the party had already set off by now) rented a horse to catch up with them.
In the meantime the rest of the party had kept themselves busy. Brynhildr has stayed behind to try to help the heir who repeatedly told her that the best way for them to help was to get him the signet ring. Odvard's insistance annoyed Brynhildr as he would not allow her to help in other missions or even inform her about them but rather seemed to trust his loyalists.
Sheldon searched for and found Rogar the rune tattooist they had helped previously. He wanted a tattoo on his skin but recoiled when he heard the prices. He then attempted to become an agent for a group of adventurers to earn a finders fee. By the end of the day he managed to turn it into an entire enterprise and asked Cheech to help by spreading posters across the city. Cheech who had just got his book published by the scribes got to it immediately when he was offered a share of the profits even the inquisitor was hired to take care of the more shady business.
As they returned to the estate they were surprised to fint that the heir was not happy about having his recruits posting pictures of their faces across the entire city when he was trying to run a discreet operation. Odvard asked that any project like this had to be run with subtetly if they were ran at all.
Getting out into the city wearing no armour or weapons in the middle of night was not adviced Sheldon and Cheech experienced as they went out to tear the posrters down. They were approached by a Drow they very much recognized who demanded they seized their actions as they were disrupting business. When Sheldon proceeded to provoke her rather than negotiate she decided that his life had to end and asked Cheech to stay out of his execution. Cheech agreed as he stepped aside and Sheldon started running as he was attacked by figures in dark robes. Escaping with grievous wounds he sought refuge in the cathedral where his wounds were tended to.
Sheldon decided to spend his next day as a bait to the drow and was followed around by templars as the others set out to find the castle. Grok caught up with them just as the entered the courtyard of what seemed to be an abandoned castle. Everywhere there were half-rotten corpses. Everyone had been killed not only family members but also slaves which were generally taken as prize in raids.
Heading to the basement and the vault the found a great pentagram drawn on the floor. As they approached the vault a very annoyed devil appeared who apparently found his imprisonement most inconvenient. He saw their arrival as an opportunity to break from his bonds. He opened a secret door which led into a dungeon which purpose were to test members of the Gothia family if they were worthy enough to access the vault. The party was clearly verqualified but it was made harder as their lack of any actual gorhia blood set off an alarm which triggered demons to attack them. The party easily dispatched of these nuisances and proceeded to complete the task set to them and run straight into three traps before grabbing the key to the vault.
With the key being recovered the party could enter the vault and the devil who had through that failed his task would be banished back to hell but not before he read the last will and testament of the last Gothia leader. He informed them of a chest containing an item which could turn into the favoured weapon of anyone who would grab it first. Grok who at this time did not have a magic weapon of his comrades level was chosen to take it while Cheech recovered the signet ring. As the weapon formed into a great axe in Grok's hand they all became aware of a presence. Apparently the axe was what had been a person named Yngve-Frey. Surprising to the party Grok took a liking to this person who seemed to appreciate Grok's thirst for blood as they were one of the few pleasures one had left as a man turned into a weapon. Yngve-Frey turned out to be quite capable himself as he by Grok's mention they were going back to Fenrisvik Grok found himself standing in the city. Alone.
Upon entering the estate again Grok was greeted by the sight of six dead men on the floor. Three of them were the loyalist that the group had met previously, the other three were masked men with daggers. Proceeding to the second floor Grok found the Heir wiping off his blade (his ancestral sword which Grok had previously returned to him) as he was surrounded by a group of dead bodies. The loss of his generals was a hard blow on his efforts but the heir decided to trust the adventurers more as a result of this.
*** Gah these things just keeps getting longer and longer don't they?

Big-ass update time (for 2 sessions)
After having the rest of the party catch up, Odvard explained the situation and tasked the party with helping him win the favour with the rest of the noble families in Scandia. This, he mused, could be achieved in hundreds of ways depending on what the families represented and what the party could do for them to win their favour. The general population was also a beast the party could win over for the Gothia. Odvard left the party saying he'd return in the next morn to tell them of his scrying attempt to locate the nearby Trolls, as to facilitate their efforts at pleasing the locals.
Perhaps before he had even left the estate's gardens, the party set to claiming rooms for themselves, assessing the situation and even hiring a housekeeper to keep it nice and respectable. Money exchanged hands in town for some of the gear they had plundered up to this point and they spent overnight in the estate.
Morning came bearing a visit from a peasant that greeted Cheech and Shelly as they were leaving. The peasant was cheerful and asked them to come with him to his household to discuss something. Cheech turned out to be oblivious to the illusion this person wore, but Shelly was not so easy to trick and he (in typical shelly style) fired at point blank range at the peasant. The arrow was deflected from his chest, but the illusion was stripped and Shelly saw the true identity of the peasant - a black-winged slender woman with a grin just as cheerful as the peasant's. The presence of Hel flared up in anger in Shelly's mind and he flung himself to his knees in apology. They decided to follow the peasant.
Along the way they gathered the rest of the party (with the exception of bob) and were briefed in the peasant's home. Apparently the souls of the deceased in Fenrisvik were being intercepted on their route to the underworld, and Hel was recieving nothing. The party were tasked to find out why and stop this block, and were given plenty of gold to help prepare for this task.
A visit from the Drow when the party were back at the estate resulted in a new task for the party to find any drow they could beneath the city and report their state back. A contract was also made which served both sides and the Drow left.
After shopping, the party decided to visit the Valdenar estate and in exchange for their allegience they wanted vengeance against the Lagmann - no details were given. So, naturally, that meant the party should burn the manor down with everyone inside. Cheech disguised himself and the barrel of oil, snuck in, lit the place up and ran. It burnt and the leper uncle burned with it. Score one for the party (and massive evil points for Cheech).
Maybe for a change of pace, or maybe to avoid the coming investigation, the party left to hunt trolls. they met them in a coastal cave and after an initial stabbing, they got on well enough due to Grok's diplomatic efforts ( I know, right). The trolls led the party to the valley in which the hill giants they now had to remove were situated. After narrowly avoiding a falling mastodon, the party engaged and killed two giants - one of which very nearly crushing the barbarian of the party to his end.
Whilst trying to climb a rope to the other side of the valley (unsuccessully I might add) more giants approached and again were engaged and slain. The party then decided a retreat back into a cave they previously stopped at (with a dragon nesting in the back) and set up camp for the night, but not before getting attacked by a bear in the night who was looking for shelter.

New character is a witch call Busby Everwind, for back story i was thinking locally famous for his paintings, if its a noble chances are i painted it (craft painting +18). Adventuring hook is that being a witch was tolerated or they did not care but since the Templar turned up its getting to a point where their distrust is turning to intolerance and i fear they may come after me soon, i wish to help the group take down the oppressive (in my characters opinion) Christ religion and put my home town back the way it was, free to practice withcraft and paint.
