Even though the party had just been tricked by those pesky pathetic leprechauns again Markus was glad. Things had recently turned out so well for him that even those creatures could not ruin his mood. The half-orc had sworn allegiance to him! Of course, his work was not done yet... Much had to happen before he could apply the references in "The Necromantica" he had found but it was a step in the right direction and it gave him something to work with.
He sat down by the orc as they made camp the day after the illusions had been cast. "Better use this to my favour" he thought. "We never should have spared those leprechauns" he said to Kavor. "Pathetic creatures don't deserve a second chance to better themselves, if you don't have the power to survive why should we ensure that they do?"
Recently his reading had become pretty much an obsession, a lack the necromantica had except for its references to at least a dozen different works which he didn't have was the fact that it only covered spells of the necromancy school. Granted, illusion and transmutation schools were prohibited for liches but that doesn't mean that one couldn't be prepared when the time came. Finally he found in the back of the book a spell which would allow a human being to disguise himself as an undead. "No", Markus thought. "They've got it all wrong... if I just could change it a bit..." He looked over the spell. Yes, he could definetly make something out of this. He took a sheet of paper from his bag and started to work.

Kavor thought long about his reply. 'When I gave them a chance to apologise, when I showed them mercy, they deserved it. I was right to let them go. They betrayed that though. Mercy is a privilege. Not a rite. Next time we meet, I shall fight as though they are an old enemy. They will feel the steel of my axe. They will feel their betrayal of my honour.'
Kavor was not happy. The world was not how he had imagined it. He was learning that he had grown up in a bubble. A place where everything revolved simply around being the strongest, toughest and best horseman. Yes, these were useful in battle, but were barely worth anything in the rest of the world. Then there was the situation with Markus. Kavor still felt it was the right thing to do, pledge himself to Markus to repay the debt of saving his life. He felt a small bit of sadness for Baatar, but no guilt, after all, Baatar had gotten himself into the situation and Kavor had volunteered to help get him out, but instead he acted with idiocy. Baatar had died from his own mistakes. There was nothing short of sacrificing himself that Kavor could have done, and even that may not have helped.
Kavor sat there thinking of his future. After this quest, he would ride with Markus for a while. Who knows where he would be when his debt had been settled. Who knows when it would be. Kavor could sense his morales changing as he continued on. This world was not suited for the extreme chivalry he had been brought up with. That was not real. He had been trained to ride into battle, surrounded by hundred of others, fight and then head home. He was not trained to cope with life outside of the country's service. So few people were worthy of his chivalry, so few understood his code of honour. It seemed he was only good for fighting, and, as an Orc, it felt natural to him. Kavor thought to himself 'If killing is all that I am good for. Killing is all that I will do.'
He took one last look at Markus. 'It will be an honour working for you Markus. I'm sure we will achieve much.' He turned to Peyter and Rasheeda. 'I also am grateful to you two for fighting along side me in battle. It too is an honour to work with you.' He thought of the mission they were on, his institutional hatred for Gazra flared up. 'Lets make the Gazran scum suffer, lets bring them to their knees as best we can. I have had enough of this wretched country.'

like we discussed I'd rather that it be a wondrous item that disguises undead as the living, an amulet or hat perhaps, I'll work out a price/cost. The thri kreen is ok as it is except drop the will save to +0. Am also going to work out a way for you to get an undead familiar so you don't have to take crypt lord to get it. The death knight probs too OP so will just use the bone creature template from the book of vile darkness and call him a death knight, Markus could also be a bone creature as pre lich essentially you'll both be skeles with souls. How you'll turn into the bone creatures you've yet to discover. Looked at your character owen and just need to know more about the back story which we can talk about on thurs or you could forum post it.
brief story update- the party moved on from their eventful border crossing toward their destination when they spotted 3 horseman charging toward a village. The village was then obliterated by the larger creature they have ever seen bursting up from under it, a colossal zombie dragon. One of the horse men died and the dragon was felled by the horseman who then asked the PCs to bear witness to their deeds. The PCs accepted and made their way with the horseman to Elmswood slightly in the wrong direction. The party was lead into the keep and interviewed. The shaman and the rouge walked out the keep with the horseman where as the rest of the group got stuck inside and the monk made the mistake of lieing to the guard really badly "we're not spies honest". The sorcerer easily acquitted himself with his silver tongue but the other three weren't so lucky. After the torture of the monk and the cavalier, weak "evidence" was acquired from their words on the rack. The next morning someone dressed as a guard who only identified himself as a steward freed the oracle, monk and cavalier and distracted the guards. the oracle proceeded to run outside and scale the keep walls successfully but the monk decided going upstairs for his equipment was more important while the cavalier decided to wait and see. The monk was spotted up stairs and after putting up a fight was detained while the cavalier decided to go back to the cells. The oracle was now running through the city and broke into the temple and asked for sanctuary, which was given at the price of his service to the church. The trial begin the next morning and the monk was hanged while the sorcerer managed to have the cavaliers life spared and him exiled from the city. the remaining party members managed to re join and now the 4 of them are within viewing distance of their destination. (also some other stuff happened with the shaman and rogue but i don't know what they got up to, the draw back of splitting the party with two DMs).

The Necromantica allows me to ressurect one zombie of my HD to command until he dies or I see no use for him anymore. I am more than willing to give that up in exhange to be able to ressurect a viper to work as a familiar. If that is a bit too overpowered you can remove some of the the feats specified of normal familiars or increased armor seeing as it gets DR (Markus doesn't want it to deliver spells or scry for him, he will always keep it at no more than arm's length's distance. He is more concerned with the fact that he is actually controlling a creature that is less obvious than a zombie before he is powerful enough to conceal it.
I say ressurect but if you see my point it's not technically going to be alive

hmmm, yeh ok thats cool this will replace the zombie spell, the book spell requires you read out loud from it as a 8 hour ritual, expend the power from your spell pool, have the animal corpse of the familiar you want and it creates an undead familiar (add skeleton or zombie template but not mindless). first lvl spell = familiar as 1st lvl wizard, 2nd lvl spell = as 3rd lvl wizard, 3rd as 5th lvl, 4th as 7th lvl etc. can upgrade a familiar already summoned by expending spell and 8 hour ritual. all other rules concerning a familiar are the same (like 1 week before you can get another if it dies)

((I will not be able to connect to the game via video on thursday although I might check in through instant messanging at some point just to make sure my character is not mistreated. So in the interest of avoiding to miss out on most RP I will check in here every now and then within the coming days. I will send Tom the character sheet. Please donät make any changes to any part except for the XP as I'd like you rater to speak to me if you find any errors.))
As far as Markus knew there was no question of what to do next. He had hoped that he could have slept an entire night so his wound would heal and he would not scar. Now it would be permanent. He thought the Gazra flag on his back could be more of an advantage than a disadvantage in the long run (no one would doubt his loyalty to Gilliard now) but currently it was a nuisance. He was not going to fully heal in a while without magic and it was still sore. So he was permanently marked by the captain. Markus could think of many other permanent changes to do to him to repay the favour and hopefully he would get the chance soon; without any of his travel company nearby. His companions seemed to be just as eager to lick their wounds and strike back on the port town.
Of course; Markus would prefer to torch the whole town to make sure the job was done thoroughly and without too much danger to themselves but the idea might strike some of the group as extreme as there would be some casualties among the civilians. An acceptable (and rather amusing) loss to Markus but nonetheless important to those with some self-enforced limits. So he tried to think of the next best thing and for once be honest.
He hesitated before he spoke. Truth did not come as natural to him as the lies that constantly slipped off his tongue. "I understand that some of you are dubious as to my intentions of my actions. Unfortunately the reason seems to be that I am well-spoken. I can promise you that my tongue is one of my few weapons and it is currently hired by Gilliard and indirectly to you, comrades. Consequently you might not like what I am about to ask from you. Especially you, Peytr. We have been given an item of great power if used in the right way. So far it has been used to inhibit us; being a mean to constantly watch us through our companion but the scale has turned. The orb which is currently in your possession can be used to our advantage too. What I will ask you is to give the orb back to us. It is no longer a secret that you are the most well-versed of us in using the shadows as a disguise. If this orb grants us long-lasting overview of your surroundings you could use it to signal us when to move forward and when to pause. It could guide us through the town and provide us with the perfect spots for lightning-swift action to take out guards with least possible casualties and cut off their escape to warn their allies maximizing the time we can get before the alarm is raised. I suggest we use this. With your permission of course." He lowered his head towards Peytr.
His two coins toward the plan was thrown. Hopefully the strategists had ways to improve this. He looked attentively towards the knight and the two military men that had joined their ranks. Surely they must know how to fight a battle against a force with greater numbers?

It was an orb of scrying given to my character so that we could track the group, Peytr in particular. However, I gave Peytr the orb in secret. Markus probably wouldn't know about the orb, since I didn't tell anyone other than Peytr and James' character hasn't told anyone I think.

Yeah, unfortunately your post is pretty moot Simon - the only reason anyone other than the bug and Carlo know about is the orb is because Carlo used it as a bargaining tool in an exchange with Peytr to keep accompanying the party. Furthermore, since your characters DON'T know about the Orb (and therefore the brand it scrys through) does that mean none of the original party know I'm a criminal? Of course the new guys could make that link. Well Carlo at least, dunno if bugman would know Gilliad's justice system practices.

Really? I thought Markus knew about the orb considering it was used to track Peytr's location. Granted, he wouldn't know about where it was currently, but that is a very small part of the post after all. In any case, Markus would definitely have asked about it if he didn't already know, since they did find Peytr it would seem odd he just followed in a random direction and they happened to know where he was. Especially since they must have been looking at the orb every now and then to find him.
The post, either way, isn't moot. Even if he doesn't know about the orb he would definitely know that Carlo or Thri-keen has a way of scrying Peytr or track him in a supernatural way. Rather not knowing about it would put them both in danger if Markus started to think they would be able to keep an eye on him or that he could extract that power in any way... Not a pretty scene.

Bugman and Carlo used it to track Peytr. They met with you and Kavor who were following Peytr anyway so they'd no need for it. There was no exchange about the Orb. Assuming he'd 'definitely ask about it' is a little presumptuous, as is 'he would definitely know they have a way of scrying or tracking supernaturally'. A relatively easy survival check would be sufficient to track someone, especially within 6 hours of the tracks being left. To think someone jumps straight to scrying is a massive leap, especially since they're not even spellcasters to begin with.
