Basically, for ease of distribution and feedback I've decided to put up the LARP rules I've been working onto the boards. The basic setting is that Players characters would be playing superpowered inmates inside a specially built prison. From this basic setting players could barter and make their lives easier on the inside, begin building their rep by taking down other players, or maybe even snooping around the prison trying to eventually break their way back out into the real world. The rules are attached, I'm still working on the fluff at the moment, and as of now nothing rule wise is set permenantly, but I hope the bare bones is enough for everyone to get a feel and critique on the system. Any thing you may have questions about not detailed within the rules or just in general are welcome as I don't feel I can make this a well rounded, balanced and therefore enjoyable game without several other pairs of eyes analysing and criticising it. I look forward to any feedback I receive. Thank you. Attachments:

Ok here be my comments, Assume that everything i DONT talk about i like lots- since i can't be bothered to comment on EVERYTHING, so i assume constructive criticism is more helpful : I don't think there should be a seperation with Customisation and Resource points, i think you should give a certain amount of points to players and let them do what they want with the points. With the power points, I assume your just trying to say im guessing its a power point per one power use? It's not so clear in your description- well for me, but i am a bit of a reet, so that could just be me. Not so important, but the layout of which you say the rules- superpowers then combat then power etc, it can be kinda confusing when you read the effects of the powers, so you have to scroll down to read the effects just to go back up and read the powers- just a little something to think about I gotta be honest, i'm not a fan of the combat system- but i'm not too sure whether its just me that has to accept we cant do a full on larp in the campus (well potentially we could if we warn security and used larp weapons ) With knockdown, i dont think personally it is neccesary to say "prone for 2 seconds" just a "your MUST fall onto the floor, during which you are prone" stops people from falling then going "one, two" getting back up etc- just lets it flow more in combat Unconscious- not sure whether you should just make it 30 seconds and then they go to their cell. Just lie there until someone brings you around- since if you ARE unsconscious, normally the damage taken to get you to that state would take a bit longer then 30 secs to snap out of it. One thing that worries me slightly is that you have to be VERY careful the combat system is not too complicated with one step up here and one down in other places. So thats all i can find potentially wrong with it. As i said its not me slating it. Just i think its more effective if i come out with the bad stuff so it can be changed rather then beat around the bush. But overall- can't WAIT to get this up and running

Overall i really liked the ruleset and can't wait to play. I'm already designing a metal user. Hes going to be crazy! but two things. I understood most of the things you can buy but i would have liked a bit of explanation on buying the power. Do you mean you have access to another set of powers (like being both strength and sound) or that you have an extra power use (so two uses of blast and one of heat skin)? also i would have liked to see the recourses stuff, but i'm betting that thats still being written and i'm just picky. Anyway, Can't wait until you set this up!

Modifications (To be posted at a later date.):
Knockdown's effect is better explained as per Bex's critique. Buying power's has been made more specific that you are buying one power, not a new class of powers.
Still working on layout, I know its a pain. but I'm not much of an editor. Just try to bear with it

I have a bunch of suggestions which I'll either post later or email/PM to you but as a short term offering:
I'm not sold on the combat system. We can't easily phys-rep combat without proper larp safe weapons and an unarmed combat system is at best slightly dodgy and at worst downright dangerous.
That makes a hit point system very hard to work. You might try using afflictions alone and make character killing a roleplayed action performed on a PC who has been rendered helpless.

Gave this a quick view over (general mechanics) I will read it properley over easter. I would also like to talk to you about this seperately because this looks like it would need some GMing and I am of course ready and willing to NPC or similar.
I like the K7 - that's a nice fair balanced weapon for what it is. Power spread is interesting (not looked at individual abilities of yet because I'm meant to be working).
Combat system is tolerable because you have Shivs and A firearm. Firearms have to spot not fire, and shivs can be blunted card, safer and more flexible than reinforced foams but usable for a single game.
If you did want to get some actual LARP gear I would refer you to the minutes of the September 09 and Early '10 meetings. The gear won't survive in the storage cupboard AND I am strongly against their purchase for a number of financial reasons, but, next years board may feel differently. (Frankly though with 3/4 being repeat members I don't think internal LARP will ever go into weapon purchase worthy - we've already seen it fall flat on it's face in regards to that).
But yes, card base weapons are safe. In regards to contact abilities be careful. I have personally experienced the mistake end of "safe HtH" which resulted in me being unconscious.
Ultimately you will have to think about the application of "contact" abilities and the problems that come with them announcing an attack within a meter range is close enough to deliver a contact ability... Depends on the kind of game you want though.
We could meet up if you're about over easter to discuss if you wanted?

I'll admit that using 'physical' attacks is probably asking for a small helping of trouble, Contact abilites, (including physical attacks) may be reduced to making a motion that does not connect with the opponent that is within a certain area, as another aspect I've realised I've forgotten to include is that everything hits unless something intervenes, so the act of 'roleplaying contact' to ensure targets don't just 'dodge' is irrelevant

Ah brilliant. It's worth bearing in mind that people like myself can injure unintentionally with "weak" movements and any contact can cause problems.
Otherwise it'll all be good.
Quick Q ~ how are you going to limit people running around waving their arms at people while the other person is crying "OUT OF RANGE!" Turn based? GM combat limiting?

as with all systems, the person who is casting should know that if the range is 10 foot, not to try and get someone who is 30 foot away. Likewise, the person getting hit shouldn't be a douche, and accept that even potentially if its slightly over 10 foot- Accept the hit. If anyone has a dispute- go to a REF (NOT just crew) Generally how it works anyways

Well, line of sight has no limit, aside from not within say single value 'x' feet away due to how damaging the attack would be to themselves at close range (maybe make that an effect) and contact is within the 'X' range Combat itself would be turned based, but with oppotunities to interrupt with power or skills.

Nice, so we are assuming at least one Ref per room, or do all NPC's have ref power?

How are you planning to run a turn based combat system in live action? I don't mean to be obstructive here its just that I've never seen a LARP system that have 'turns'

All NPC's can work as ref's. As for how turns work, they aren'tso much turns as how the combat runs, I can;t really find a way to describe it otherwise. But you can't attack more than once every 1 - 2 seconds. (still a lot of clearing up I know"
