I mumble something about inept pilots. Realising I'm really not built for this kind of action I try to steady myself as best I can.
Let's try using a Fortitude save. It's my highest with a whopping 2!

"For fuck sake" Fawkes mutters to himself as he remains in his seat, As the impact occurs he holds onto the straps of the seat next to him, suddenly emptied as the craft rocks.
(Strength check for me)

I calmly assess the situation as decide to simply keep on standing where I am, widening my stance and hunkering down slightly to lower my centre of gravity and with a hand ready to steady myself further if needed. One of the first lessons we were taught, to always remain calm and in control when with the troops. "Watch the languange Fawkes, I've told you enough times as it is!"
(thats a balance check for me please)

Danger: impact iminent And, all of a sudden,... TRAKA DOOM!Professor Hemmingway is projected against the wall but takes only a slight bump on his forehead. [Loses 1 hp]Tool, the technician, had studied the structure of the room and knew where and how to hold himself, but the force of the impact would still leave its mark on him. [Loses 1 hp]Fawkes tenses all his muscles before the impact, but such was the strength of the micro-metheor that a corner took the best of him. [Loses 6 hp]The training of Lieutenant Marshall was well used and instead of a harder hit he only got a mild concussion. [Loses 2 hp]These had prepared beforehand against the collision, but there were some who would rely only on their reflexes to cope with the impact: Doctor Morgan, attuned with the axis of the Cheyenne, only got slightly damage from the fall of unattended objects. [Loses 2 hp]Among the Marines it would be seen as weakness to prepare against such a trivial thing, still one of them* would get thrown quite a few meters through the barracks. [Loses 4 hp]Alone at her cabin, Lucia Rei felt safe enough. And, indeed, if it weren't for some loose luggage she would passed unscathed through the whole ordeal. [Loses 3 hp]After a few seconds, that looked like hours, you could hear the voice of the Captain on the speakers again: This is your Captain speaking. The micro-metheor has just grazed our outer hull but we're still assessing damages to the whole structure. Please see to the safety of your fellow companions and report to me in five minutes if anything is amiss. — and, after a short pause: Dr. Morgan, please deal with the injured. Where would you go first, Dr. Morgan? - the cantine,
- the barracks,
- or the bridge?
As to the rest of the people, what do you see your characters doing after this event? (Yes, I realize this is Easter break - but if you'd all reply until Monday evening I'll do my best to do a double update this week!)
* aturin's character. You're still to send me your character's name/background/last choices.

I do a quick sweep of the ship, making sure that no-one is in a critical condition and that the ship isn't about to fall apart before leaving it to those more qualified. As always, I maintain my calm disposition and congratulate the men for their responses in an emergency situation.

I re-balance myself and brush my uniform down. I go to reach for my Thermos flask that flew across the room, I pick it up, open it and sip the still hot tea to calm my nerves.
I then retake my seat.

Grumbling to myself I remain in my seat and look around to see how everyone else has dealt with the collision.

Fawkes was lucky that he didn't fall, because the ones who did were being teased by those with better reflexes (or better muscles) to such an extent that they were almost exchanging blows. Still, when Lieutenant Marshall arrives at the barracks Master-Sargent Powell barks at them: At-TENNN-tion! — to which everyone snaps up to a standing position, facing the Staff Officer in an almost defiant manner. Professor Hemmingway and John "Tool" are called to the bridge, because of their individual experties. About the same time, Lucia Rei got a personal message from her corporation. And, in the middle of all this, Dr. Morgan is completely adrift. Perhaps his senses, more attuned than the normal human's, would take longer to adjust? Hit Points: Corporate Observer 16/18, Doctor 32/36, Marine Garrison Infantry 36/39, Researcher 27/28, Staff Officer 31/33, Technician 30/31. (Next update will be on a different thread.)

I have a quick scan of the room, taking in the defiant stares and mentally noting those who display this more than others. "At ease men."
I then take Master-Sargeant Powell slightly away for a private word, but perposefully speak just loud enough for the rest of the barracks to hear me. "Master-Sargeant, I will not tolerate fighting between men under my command. Count yourself lucky I arrived before any blows were actually swung. I will require a full write up of all personel involved in the previous disagreements and any others that may occur so that they can be issued with the appropriately harsh punishment duties. That will be all." Without a look back, I turn and leave the barracks.
As I walk away, I again think back to my training, The troops always need a common enemy and, with the lack of someone to shoot at, that mantle must often be taken up by the officers. I just pray this is one of those times and I haven't alienated myself from the troops for no reason.

"Hey sarge, if you put all our names down he won't have enough duties for all of us!" I call out once the Lieutenant had left.
This being standard logic from before, they can't punish everyone for something, even if they do the punishment can't be as harsh or they won't have a force to fight with.

I stand up and head off towards the bridge.

I check to make sure the ship is ok and won't fall appart and then head to the bridge, helping fix anything which can be quickly fixed on the way there.
